One of Ghana’s most sensational songstress has advised her colleagues in the music industry to be watchful when endorsing political parties.
Irene Logan noted that many people look up to these artists and trust their judgement, hence a wrong endorsement would not only negatively affect the lives of their supporters but go a long way to mar the country’s stability.
“If people want to endorse a political party I don’t have a problem with it, it is their choice. However, my problem with that is I think if you’re an influential person and you have the power to influence people…and in this case, you’re influencing people to vote for the future of a country, it is a very tight position to be in so you should really understand what you’re doing” Irene said this when she joined the host of Joy FM’s Mamavi Owusu Aboagye Tuesday on the Cosmopolitan Mix.
As the race to the December polls heats up, many artists including actors have openly endorsed a political party or the other.
Most of these celebrities have either endorsed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Notable among these celebrities are Agya Koo, Daddy Lumba, Lucky Mensah, Kwabena Kwabena, to name a few have endorsed the NPP’ presidential candidate Nana Addo Dakwa Akufo-Addo.
Also, John Dumelo, Mr Beautiful, Mzbel, Bukom Banko, Ayitey Powers, Papa Nii have endorsed President Mahama’s second term bid to govern Ghana.
Ms Logan said although she has nothing against her colleague artistes who are endorsing political parties, “personally I won’t do that.”
She also disclosed that she is still undecided on who to vote for during the December polls, adding, “I am very much undecided.”
