The family of late comedian, Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng, popularly known as Bob Okala, is ‘mad’ at Joy Industries Limited, the producers of Joy Dadi Bitters over claims that their departed family member begged to be on stage on the night of his death.
The 59-year old died at the Koforidua Government Hospital after collapsing immediately he finished performing at an event organized by Joy Industries Limited. Managing Editor of Joy Daddy Multimedia, Kwaku Solomon told the media that Bob Okala was not billed to perform on the night but was allowed to appear on stage after he begged the organisers.
He claimed that the organisers initially refused to give in to his plea since they knew he wasn’t well but later changed their minds due to the cordial relationship that existed between them.
Rumours indicate the late Okala took in some shots of the alcoholic drink before appearing on stage. He collapsed after the performance and was rushed to the Koforidua Government Hospital where he died on arrival.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Easy Way Music Production, who is also the spokesperson for Bob Okala’s family, Seth Kwaku Amponsah has rubbished Kwaku Solomon’s claim insisting that Bob Okala was invited officially invited to the programme to perform.
According to him, Kwaku Solomon has subsequently been sacked by Joy Industries Limited for lying about the issue and also making such derogatory comments about their relative. “Management of Joy Industries Limited have been close friends of Bishop Okala until his death, so I was surprised to hear Kwaku Solomon make such denigrating comments about him after his death”, he said.
Adom Entertainment News has also chanced upon a text message that was sent to the late Bishop of Comedy by management of Joy Industries Limited inviting him for the show.
“The Management of Joy Industries Limited, producers of Joy Dadi Bitters invites you to one of our biggest jam ever at Koforidua Jackson Park on the 12th of March 2016 till you drop. “Main Artistes, Shatta Wale and many more. Let’s know of your coming and the number of people you will be coming with to enable us make hotel reservations please….. Joy Dadi,” the text message read.Kwaku Amponsah however said that the family and the company has worked to resolve their differences.
