After successful back to back singles over the years, Dancehall/Afrobeats artiste, Ebony, has finally outdoored her maiden album titled ‘Bonyfied’.
It was a live band affair at the poolside section of the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra as Ebony Reigns treated the audience to some of her hit songs like ‘Poison’, ‘Kupe’, ‘Sponsor’, and ‘Date Ur Fada’.
The corporate launch which was supposed to start at 7pm took well over an hour and thirty minutes with performances by underground artistes before the real show started. Nonetheless, it turned out to be a success with family and friends who came in their numbers to show their support for the sensational singer.
“Paving the way and making sure I clear the way before she (Ebony) touches the mic,” Trigmatic who doubled as an MC also gave a short performance after a long while.
There were a couple of heartfelt speeches from sponsors, friends and management who were obviously proud to be associated with the Dancehall crooner.
Sponsors reiterated that they were “proud to support” the ‘90s bad girl’ because they believed in her talent and brand.
On the other hand close pal of Ebony, Abeiku Santana, disclosed that the 20-year-old singer would take Africa by storm while her manager Bullet said “she has been a blessing to me” and “I love her very much.”
Then it was Ebony’s turn to talk about how excited she was to launch her album adding that the main event will be held on Saturday at the forecourt of the West Hills Mall on the Kasoa road.
Ebony who seemed to be in a haste to entertain patrons quickly move closer to the live band and started performing her ‘Sponsor’, ‘Kupe’, etc coupled with some sensual dance moves, as expected.
Recorded in Accra over the past 12 months, Ebony describes the launch of the record as “if it was my birthday.” She mentioned her favourite of the bunch to be ‘Real’ written by herself. Joining her alongside the band through the night was fellow Dancehall artiste Kaakie; Efya, and ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ hit maker Kurl Songx.
Ebony featured collaborations with Gatdoe on ‘Poison’; Brella on ‘Hustle’, and Rudebwoy Rankin on ‘Haters Anthem’. Bullet, Rudebwoy Rankin, Gatdoe, Das and Fredi contributed songwriting.
The well-attended launch saw several artistes and industry players such as Efya, Captain Planet, KOD, Kaaki, Lexis Bill, Giovanni, among others. Ebony covers up at album launch
