A 23-year-old painter who allegedly raped a 17-year-old junior high school graduate has been arraigned before court.
Eric Addo was charged with rape when he appeared before an Accra Magistrate Court but his plea was not taken.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Lois Konadu, told the court, presided over by Ms Arit Nsemoh, that the victim lived with her parents at Apenkwah near Achimota while Addo lived at Abelemkpe in Accra.
According to the prosecutor, on July 22, 2014 at 7:00a.m., the victim was on her way to visit her friend at Alajo when Addo spotted her around Santana railways and asked her to stop.
Addo subsequently approached her and introduced himself as a mallam.
Addo then told the victim that he had seen a demon that was destroying her and lured her to his residence at Abelemkpe.
While in his room, he asked the victim to produce sperms to enable him perform some spiritual rites for her.
The prosecutor said the victim told Addo she couldn’t produce the sperms but he threatened her that if she moved or shouted she would die.
Sergeant Konadu said Addo then forcibly slept with the victim after which he allowed her to leave.
The Prosecutor said the victim then reported the offence to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police.
