Kanye West has already promised new music with Kendrick Lamar, Young Thug, Drake & Future in the mere weeks since the release of his album The Life of Pablo, but that’s not all: He’s just promised another album this year. According to his latest Twitter episode, it looks like it might be Yeezy Season all year round: A new album as well as free Adidas sneakers for all. Considering that his latest Yeezy Boost 350 had fans lining up for a week to purchase the $260 shoe, it’s quite the bold claim.
Moreover, Kanye West criticised the Grammys heavily, stating that more artists like Young Thug & Future need to be present and performing on the grand stage. The Tweets prompted Neil Portnow – the CEO of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences who present the Grammys – to invite Kanye personally to sit down and discuss his ideas.
“Kanye West is a creative pioneer who has been recognized and honored by The Recording Academy time and again. We value his input as a member of the creative community, and our doors are always open to him. I continue to welcome Kanye, personally, to engage in a direct and productive dialogue about the future of music and the important role that music creators play in shaping that future,” Portnow wrote in an email to The Fader.
