A Police officer who is accused of “fingering” a seven year old girl at Nungua has been put before a Circuit Court in Accra. Isaac Kwaako, 32, charged with indecent assault, pleaded not guilty.
The accused, who also is on interdiction for allegedly raping a colleague’s wife at Nungua, currently is on bail.
Kwaako, a Lance Corporal, was admitted to bail in the sum of GHC8,000 cedis with a surety to reappear on January 4 at the Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.
Prosecuting Detective Inspector J.B Asante said the mother of the victim was the complainant.
Inspector Asante said the victim is a class two pupil while the accused stationed at Nungua is currently on interdiction.
“The complainant, victim and the accused person reside in the same vicinity,” prosecution said.
According to prosecution, the complainant traveled for years and left the victim in the care of her grandmother.
On November 24, this year, in the afternoon, the victim and her friend aged nine years visited the accused person and he ushered them into his room and offered them food.
The victim and her friend, however, declined to eat and the victim was asked by Kwaako to wait for a while.
Not quite long, prosecution said Kwaako held the hand of the victim and dragged her to his bed.
Kwaako, placed the victim on his thighs and used his penis to “brush” her vagina.
Inspector Asante said when the victim reached home, she informed her mother who had returned from her journey.
A report was made to the Police at Nungua and a medical form, was issued to the victim.
The Police then picked up Kwaako, prosecution said.
