Ghanaians woke up Friday morning to news that dancehall artiste, Mzvee has been nominated for 2016 BET Awards Best International Act: Africa category.
The nomination according to some social media commentators and entertainment critics went to the wrong artiste but highlife singer, Sista Afia thinks otherwise.
The “Kro Kro No” singer defending Mzvee’s 2016 BET Awards nomination said the Lynx Entertainment signed act has worked hard as an artiste and deserves any nomination that comes her way.
In a chat with Zionfelix.com on Saturday evening, the Black Legendary Music and StreamLine Records artiste opined that it is wrong for people to say her nomination was a mistake.
According to her “nobody has the right to say Mzvee doesn’t deserve that nomination.”
“She has worked so hard. She is a very strong lady. I don’t know her personally but following her music for a while now, I think she deserves it.
What we need to do is just to appreciate her especially the ladies. If a lady is doing something big, it affects all of us positively so all we need to do is to support her” Sista Afia added.
She continued that “lets stop badmouthing this lady wit comments that she doesn’t deserve it. If they had nominated another artiste, same thing would have been said about same artiste.”. Sista Afia further pleaded with Ghanaians to support Mzvee for her to win this year’s Best International Act: Africa award at BET.
Mzvee who has made history as the first Ghanaian female musicians to be nominated for the Black Entertainment Award is in the Best International Act: Africa category with AKA (South Africa), Wizkid (Nigeria), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Cassper Nyovest (SouthAfrica), Black Coffee (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania) and Serge Beynaud (Cote D’Ivoire).
