Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah has revealed that fellow artiste Kofi B failed to recognise him as the writer of his ‘Yaw Dompre’ hit song.
The singer popularly called Mr All4Real said the experience has stopped him from writing for any other person.
The prolific songwriter whose writing skills have been described as deep and unique has interestingly not done much work for other musicians for some time now.
On Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty, Mr All4Real disclosed that he has stopped writing to avoid being hurt by ungrateful artistes.
“Sometimes you go through this job and you don’t want to give out to other people because of an experience,” he said.
“I wrote a song, it was a very powerful song, I listened to the song and said ‘this artiste’s voice will fit the song’, so I invited the artiste, and said this is the song and I want you to sing it…,” Ofori Amponsah revealed.
According to the ‘Otoolege’ hitmaker, Kofi B felt that the song sounded too ‘local’ and only recorded the song upon his insistence.
After the song came out, the artiste in an interview gave himself credit for the lyrics saying that he got the inspiration whiles he worked on his farm somewhere.
“It is painful,” he lamented.
Although he was evasive about specific names, he gave an example that if he wrote ‘Yaw Dompre’ he expects to be duly acknowledged.
Later in the interview, he confirmed that “most of the songs we are singing today, like ‘Yaw Dompre’, were all written by me.”
