Controversial Ghanaian rapper, Kwaw Kese, who was being tried for narcotic offences has been sentenced to a day in prison and fined an amount of GHc1,200.
The Circuit Court at KMA gave the ruling Thursday after months of back and forth in court, following the rapper’s arrest by police in Kumasi on November 22, 2014, for allegedly smoking cannabis in public.
His initial not guilty plea was changed to guilty by his counsel,Nana Kwesi Boaitey therefore making things easier for the court.
The court, presided over by His Lordship William Boampong who is now a high court judge upon the plea of his Lawyer sentenced “Abodam” to a day imprisonment and the cash fine. Should he default in paying the fine, “Abodam” will go to prison for three years with hard labour.
Kwaw Kese who dressed in a white shirt and a blue jeans to match looked calm and composed as he was whisked away to serve his one day term
However his managers paid the fine and the rapper is currently serving his prison sentence.
He is expected to be out by Friday morning April 24, 2015.
