To some people, he is now doing Afrobeats, others claim he is doing ‘Jama’. They claim songs like Kakai, Mahama Paper, Zenabu, Chop Kiss can never and ever be referred to as dancehall songs.
Shatta Wale has finally revealed on Pluzz Fm that he is forced to lower dancehall in Ghana because when he releases the real dancehall songs, they don’t become hit songs and that people don’t relate well to the songs.
He said, “I’ve stopped doing real dancehall songs because Ghanaians don’t relate well to the Jamaican style.”
He continued, “All my serious dancehall songs did not hit in Ghana because people can’t relate well to them. That’s why ‘Kakai’ became instant hit because people can relate well to it here in Ghana. I nowadays make lyrics so simple so that any normal Ghanaian can understand thereby relating well to the lyrics.” He ended.
